Periods 16 Years, 2 Months ago
Am I correct in saying that Ancients seems the pre-eminent period amongst Italian gamers/ collectors?
The few (& poor) Conventions in Australia are dominated by Flames of War (WW2), Ancients (DBA & DBM rules) & Fantasy, of course.
Napoleonics which is my favoured period, rarely appears. I think that's because of the perception it doesn't have any good rule sets.
Anything else is very rare indeed.

We had a poll some time ago on the old forum and these are the results

As you can see Napoleonic seems to be the preferred period here too, with Rome/Medioeval just a step below.
This poll desn't tells the wargamers from the collectors though...

I could be publishing another more specific poll in the next few days.

Thank you for tha data.
It's surprising that WW2 scored so comparatively low.
I'd say it was a more popular period in the US & Britain than any other.
Of course, these things go in cycles.
In wargaming, a new & effective rule-set or figure range can spark off interest in a period.
I know HaT's Punic sets got me interested in Ancients.
Why isn't there a bigger interest in the Risorgimento do you think?

Risorgimento is not a well known period as it should be, here in Italy!
Moreover we are still missing a good bunch of figures...
